Meeting Called to Order
Pledge
Review of October Minutes
Welcomed new member Kim Hayden
Finished Business:
Halloween- In the review of the last minutes for next Halloween, instead of turning gym into a haunted house, it should read the hallway.
Business in Progress:
Grandparent Breakfast/Bingo- Saturday, November 22nd, 8-11 a.m.
Food- Jim will do the food shopping. Cafeteria will need to get started around 7:00 a.m. Four people needed to cook.
Bingo- Chris Seavey will be the caller. There will be 4-6 students from Z-club to volunteer. It was decided to use bingo cards instead of the usual bingo cage and balls. They are large printed out cards to be held up as they are pulled form a box. Kim will bring these as well as crayons to be used for marking cards. Karen ordered a case of bingo cards.
Prizes- are various games, word puzzles, paddle ball, sticky racers, chalkboards, plus the box from the MES Aux that has items from Oriental Trading.
******Building Request*****- was a problem with ME Hoops. Karen filled out the request back in September and Dave Monte alerted us that ME Hoops was suppose to have the gym. Dave contacted Gordie Gottlieb and Karen spoke with Angela Spera.
Town Tree Trimming- Saturday, December 6th, 4-8 p.m.
Treat Bags- traditional clementines, nuts, gingerbread cookies (in a little bag) and gold chocolate coins. In the final analysis, because of costs, the decision was made to stick to popcorn balls, gold chocolate coins, gingerbread cookies and a small toy. Sue will pick up the chocolate coins from Wegmans, can buy by the pound. Treat bags will be put together on Tuesday, December 2nd at Thumbprints. Based on past attendance we will do 50 treat bags. Karen and Sylvia will have popcorn balls ready for Tuesday.
Flyers- Karen will get out at Maine Memorial and town hall before Thanksgiving.
Decorations- need to get lights for the trees. Red and white can do double duty for the Father/Daughter Dance.
Trees- need to get another tree. The first one comes from Molyneaux's. At the board meeting it was mentioned to ask Cody's because McKilligan no longer has the tree farm. Cyndi will try to have lights on a few days before the event.
Movie Night- Friday, January 24, 2009 @7:00 p.m. Building request has been filled out and approved. Discussion of possible movie choices, "Wally" or "Kung Fu Panda." Flyers to go out January 5th. Because of everybody's schedule, the decision was made not to meet before movie night. Any final decisions can be made via email.
Father/Daughter Dance- Saturday, February 7, 2009. Building request has been filled out and approved. Sheila has valentines stuff in bags at her house. Further discussion was on organizing and consolidating bins. May need to buy another bin. It was agreed that the smaller bins would be easier to handle rather that the giant bins, that take up a lot of room in the car, plus moving them downstairs from Jenn Wheeler's storage barn is awkward. The flyer will go out January 20th.
Procedure Committee: Ernie Palmer to talk to the town attorney. He has not given her the proposal yet. Will have ready in January.
December Board Meeting- Kim will attend the next town board meeting, Tuesday, December 9, 2008.
Other- It was also discussed that the PTA can't keep doing everybody's stuff for the newsletter. We will in the future have to supply our own paper. May need to go to half sheets instead of full page. Will need to condense information.
Next Rec meeting: Wednesday, January 28, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m.
