The regular scheduled meeting of the Town of Maine Zoning Board of Appeals was held on June 2, 2009 at the Town of Maine Town Hall. 

Boardmembers Present: Melissa Vicari, Ken Brady, Ellen Vachon, Gerard Lenzo.

Absent: Lawrence Maier

Others Present:  Councilman Todd Rose, Town Assessor Doug Barton

Meeting call to order with the Pledge to the flag at 7:00 pm by acting Chairman Lenzo. 

Old Business

                Motion: To accept the minutes with corrections.

Action: Approve, Moved by Ken Brady, Seconded by Ellen Vachon.

Vote: Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote (summary: Yes = 4).

Yes: Melissa Vicari, Ken Brady, Ellen Vachon, Gerard Lenzo.

 

 New Business

Case 09-3 - John and Wendy Cook Area Variance -Boardmember Vicari  stated the applicants have submitted a written request to withdraw their request for a Area Variance and would like the case closed.

Closed Floor

Motion:  A motion that the Area Variance requested for case 09-3 John and Wendy Cook,be withdrawn as per the applicant's letter, and that Case 09-3 be considered close.

Action: Approve, Moved by Melissa Vicari, Seconded by Ken Brady.

Vote: Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote (summary: Yes = 4).

Announcements

                Education Seminars - Planning and Zoning Summer Schools

                 Historic District workshop Meeting - May 26 - Ken Brady - 2 hours education  

Boardmember Brady stated that the Historical workshop was very educational and the history of preservation was very interesting.  Councilman Rose said it was a very good and informational meeting.

Councilman Rose told the board about the NYSERDA program which is coming to the Town next week to audit the Garage and the Town hall for energy efficiency.  There is discussion regarding the building of a new town hall up by the Town Garage.  There is some money already set aside in the budget for a new Town Hall.  There is grant money and low interest loans available from NYSERDA for Town Halls.  NYSERDA can also help plan a new hall.  

Councilman Rose will be meeting with Chairman Maier to discuss the junkyard.
